Eaton is a city in Preble County, in the Dayton metro area. It is the county seat. The latitude of Eaton is 39.743N. The longitude is -84.636W. Founded in 1806 by William Bruce, it celebrated its bicentennial in the summer of 2006. The town derives its name from Gen. William Eaton (1764-1811), the U.S. Consul at Tunis, who led a diverse army in a harrowing march from Egypt to Tripoli to meet the U.S. Naval forces. The city includes the majestic Crystal Lake and Seven Mile Creek. Parks include: Fort St. Clair, Water Works Park. Eaton is located approximately 17 miles and twenty five minutes from Richmond, IN.
